On Monday afternoon, a 36-year-old man was arrested after stealing a cell phone from a woman and being subdued by neighbors in the area who witnessed the incident.
The episode was recorded on San Jerónimo Street at 2900, where, according to police sources, the suspect allegedly snatched the device from the victim and quickly fled the scene.
Witnesses to the robbery initiated a chase and managed to catch up with him a few blocks away, where they subdued him with blows and kept him restrained until the arrival of a police vehicle, which was alerted through the emergency system.
Upon arrival, the officers proceeded to apprehend the individual and seize the stolen cell phone, which was recovered.
The detainee was first taken to a medical center and then to a police station, where he was placed at the disposal of the justice system.
