Córdoba: sunflower sets historic crushing record and projects strong growth
Sunflower milling in Argentina reached a triple record in 2025
Sunflower milling in Argentina reached a triple record in 2025, with increases in production, exports, and planted area.
In July, 487,541 metric tons (1,075,222 pounds) were processed, surpassing the 2023 mark of 402,141 metric tons (886,698 pounds). The volume confirms the best performance of the last decade.
The accumulated total between January and July reached 2.72 million metric tons (5,997,142 pounds), compared to 2.46 million (5,423,287 pounds) in 2023. This confirms the strength of the agribusiness complex.

Rising exports and product diversification
45% of the milling was allocated to oils, 44% to pellets, and 1% to other by-products. The industry is strengthening its export profile.
In the first half of the year, external sales grew by 27% in volume and 43% in value, reaching 1.41 million metric tons (3,108,517 pounds) for USD 905 million.
The data confirm Argentina's position as the 4th largest sunflower oil exporter in the world, consolidating its role in the international market.

Expansion of planting and positive outlook
The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange reported that the new season will cover 2.6 million hectares, 18% more than in 2024.
In northern Argentina, planting already exceeds 70%. In the north-central region of Santa Fe, progress reaches 23% and confirms the projected area.
At the national level, 15.8% of the projected area has been planted, showing an advance of 15.3 percentage points year-on-year and surpassing the five-year average.

Sunflower for Córdoba
Córdoba is consolidating itself as one of the provinces with the highest participation in sunflower production and milling, bringing dynamism to its regional economy. The oilseed industry represents a strategic source of employment, added value, and foreign currency, strengthening both the agribusiness chain and the provincial logistics network.
The growth of sunflower diversifies Córdoba's production, complements corn and soybeans, and creates opportunities for SMEs linked to agriculture. This relevance makes Córdoba a central player in the sunflower boom that is currently driving the country in global markets.
