The nurse accused of multiple newborn deaths at the Neonatal addressed the popular jury
This Monday, Brenda Agüero exercised her right to make a final statement before the closing arguments stage. The nurse from Córdoba faces charges of homicide and attempted homicide against several babies at the Neonatal Hospital. During her statement, she appeared moved and stated: "I'm not a murderer, I would never harm a baby."
Agüero spoke during the trial taking place with a popular jury at the Tribunales II in Córdoba Capital. She said she was "deeply hurt" and maintained that she never imagined going through a legal situation like the one she is facing. In her final message, she also expressed that her intention was to care for and protect the children, not to harm them.
Before her statement, the court had heard the testimonies of witnesses proposed by the defense. During that stage, the attorneys attempted to cast doubt on the hospital's conditions and the medical staff's actions. The hearings will continue this week with the closing arguments stage, after more than two months of trial.
