Córdoba: the Argentine Peanut Institute will be created

The peanut supply chain will incorporate an additional technical body and an origin label, focusing on training, innovation, and traceability

At a meeting with representatives from the sector, the launch of the Argentine Peanut Institute was announced, dedicated to training and innovation. The initiative will include the participation of the Argentine Peanut Chamber and the Argentine Peanut Foundation as main stakeholders. The new space aims to connect academic and productive institutions linked to the value chain.

The announcement coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Argentine Peanut Chamber, celebrated in Córdoba Capital with the presence of business leaders and key figures. During the event, the entity's historic commitment to production, quality, and the sector's international expansion was highlighted. In this context, agreements were signed with universities and trade promotion agencies.

The Argentine Peanut Institute aims to establish itself as a technical and scientific reference center in an industry with a strong export profile. Among its functions will be the training of new human resources to meet the demand for specialized profiles. It will also serve as a space for innovation and for coordinating applied research projects.

A unique brand to highlight the international quality of peanuts

The creation of the Peanut Córdoba Quality and Origin Certification Seal, designed to position the product globally, was also presented. "We have the best peanuts in the world. We need a seal that identifies us, a marketing strategy that positions us globally, a brand that represents Argentina, with a Córdoba accent," stated Martín Llaryora. The proposal seeks to add value in international markets with distinctive support.

The initiative will include public and private contributions to reach funding of 350 million pesos (771,618 pounds) in its initial development. The head of the Peanut Chamber, Diego Bracco, emphasized: "Peanuts have become a global ambassador for Córdoba and Argentina. We have surpassed powers such as China, India, the United States, and Brazil." This recognition reflects the relevance achieved by the sector on a global scale.

The presentation brought together institutions, business leaders, and academic entities linked to the production and commercialization of Argentine peanuts. The agreement included the signatures of representatives from the Provincial University of Córdoba, the ProCórdoba Agency, and the Argentine Peanut Foundation. This agreement paves the way for a comprehensive strategy to give visibility to production and strengthen its competitiveness.
