Córdoba will build an exclusive prison for juvenile offenders
The new complex will have capacity for 125 dangerous youths and will be built in Bouwer, next to Complejo Esperanza
The province confirmed that a maximum security facility will be built to house young people who have committed serious crimes in Córdoba. The prison will be named Campus Papa Francisco and will feature a design that prioritizes strict control over those serving judicial measures. The project will represent an improvement in the protection of law-abiding citizens who demand security in the face of rising crime.
The building will have 6,500 square meters (69,965 square feet) of covered space within a 28,000 square meter (301,389 square feet) site, with designated areas for different operational sectors. There will be five residential modules, each capable of housing up to 25 inmates, ensuring capacity for 125 young people in custody. The facility will be located in Bouwer, next to Complejo Esperanza, in an area already designated for serving custodial sentences.
The initiative represents a significant provincial investment, estimated at more than 18 billion pesos, with a projected construction period of 12 months. The design includes supervised residential areas, administrative sectors, and health rooms to serve the prison population. The infrastructure will be aimed at providing permanent security, with modern equipment and reinforced controls throughout the perimeter.

A decisive step against juvenile crime
The penitentiary complex will be accompanied by security systems that will prevent escapes and ensure order within its facilities. There will be closed and guarded areas for controlled activities, with sports and social spaces under strict supervision. The decision seeks to provide peace of mind to citizens, as it means greater protection for law-abiding people living in Córdoba.
The design incorporates specific measures that allow inmates to be managed in small groups, which facilitates greater control over their movements. Each module will have infrastructure designed to keep different groups separated, preventing conflicts and ensuring discipline. The layout of the units follows security criteria that have been applied in modern prisons in the country.
The location in Bouwer will allow the use of logistical and operational resources already in place in the area, which will facilitate the operation of the complex. Authorities emphasized that this type of project strengthens the State's presence in the fight against crime and youth violence. For the population of Córdoba, it means that minors who pose a real danger will be confined in a place prepared to contain them.
