The province confirmed that a maximum security facility will be built to house young people who have committed serious crimes in Córdoba. The prison will be named Campus Papa Francisco and will feature a design that prioritizes strict control over those serving judicial measures. The project will represent an improvement in the protection of law-abiding citizens who demand security in the face of rising crime.
The building will have 6,500 square meters (69,965 square feet) of covered space within a 28,000 square meter (301,389 square feet) site, with designated areas for different operational sectors. There will be five residential modules, each capable of housing up to 25 inmates, ensuring capacity for 125 young people in custody. The facility will be located in Bouwer, next to Complejo Esperanza, in an area already designated for serving custodial sentences.
The initiative represents a significant provincial investment, estimated at more than 18 billion pesos, with a projected construction period of 12 months. The design includes supervised residential areas, administrative sectors, and health rooms to serve the prison population. The infrastructure will be aimed at providing permanent security, with modern equipment and reinforced controls throughout the perimeter.
