In the first half of 2025, the Córdoba Highway Police collected $24.721 billion in traffic fines on provincial routes. This figure represents a real increase of 55.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, adjusted for inflation. The data come from reports by the Provincial Directorate of Statistics and Census.
The amount represents 56% of the annual budget and is equivalent to 40% of the revenue projected from the Motor Vehicle Tax. However, the Highway Police do not specify how many violations were issued or the most frequent types of offenses. It also doesn't publish the percentage of fines that were actually paid.

Record revenue without citizen oversight
On average, the Highway Police received $4.120 billion per month, which is about $137 million per day. The increase in revenue is attributed to the value of Fixed Fine Units and a greater number of road controls. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of public information regarding the management of these resources.
Provincial Traffic Law 8,560 and its amendment 9,688 stipulate that fines must be channeled through the Road Safety Fund. The text establishes a distribution of 5% for the Provincial Traffic Commission and another 5% for participating municipalities. However, there are no updated reports on its implementation.
