Rating crisis at El Trece and Telefe: neither 'El Zorro' nor a wedding saved the day

Big Brother lowered its average with a special wedding, and El Trece sank with its daily schedule

Thursday, May 15 marked another challenging day for El Trece and also for Telefe. Not even the wedding of a former participant of Gran Hermano managed to maintain the usual average of the reality show, and the overall ratings left worrying figures on the main channels.

Gran Hermano aired a special episode centered around the wedding of Brian Alberto, former reality show participant, with his partner Luciana. Despite the sentimental hook of the event, the show hosted by Santiago del Moro fell below 14 points, something unusual in its performance.

Gran Hermano didn't sustain interest with its wedding special

The program averaged 13.7 points and, although it was the most-watched of the day on Telefe, it revealed a decline. Even Espiando la casa —available on DIRECTV DGO— scored 12.1 points, and Gran Hermano II obtained 11.9. All of them dominated the day, but without reaching previous peaks.

In the rest of Telefe's line-up, Telefe Noticiasscored 9.9 and the Turkish soap opera Amor a cualquier precio achieved 7.6. Despite leading widely over other channels, the overall daily average closed at 8.3 points, far from previous days.

El Trece doesn't improve: its average was half of Telefe's

The situation was more severe for El Trece.  The most-watched program was El Zorro, which scored just 4.9 points. Although it was the highest on the channel, its internal leadership was not good news: it reflected the content crisis on the network.

Below were Mediodía Noticias with 4.7 points and Ahora Caigo, which dropped to 4.3. The latter experienced a significant drop, considering the channel's attempts to position it as a strong proposal in the afternoon slot.

El Trece's daily average was just 4.1 points, which raised alarms. Ángel de Brito ironically noted on social media that El Zorro, an archive fiction, was the most-watched on the channel. Meanwhile, the recent addition of Homero Pettinato to the afternoons seeks to refresh the air.

América TV and El Nueve: fighting for third place

América TV ranked third with an average of 2.8 points. LAM was its most-watched program with 3.8 points, followed by Sálvese quien pueda with 3.6 and Intrusos with 3.3. The channel managed to beat Bendita, which with 3.0 points topped El Nueve's line-up.

On that network, Telenueve al mediodía measured 2.9 and Telenueve central2.6, numbers that also highlighted the constant struggle of mid-range channels not to fall further in the rankings.

Public TV, without surprises

Public TV maintained its place at the bottom of the ranking. Its most-watched programs, like Televisión Pública Noticias, barely reached 0.4 points. Other shows like Cocinate, Las mañanas con Andino or Se siente Argentinadidn't exceed 0.2 points, with no signs of recovery.

The top five of the day: Telefe's dominance, but without shine

  • Gran Hermano – 13.7
  • Espiando la casa (DIRECTV DGO) – 12.1
  • Gran Hermano II – 11.9
  • Telefe Noticias – 9.9
  • Amor a cualquier precio – 7.6

Despite that dominance, the overall performance didn't leave great reasons to celebrate. Telefe led but showed signs of fatigue in its strongest asset, while El Trece was far behind, with a line-up that fails to connect with the audience.
