Cristian Traverso questioned Marcos Rojo after his statements about his departure from Boca.

The former Boca defender and journalist harshly criticized the statements made by Racing's current center-back in his interview with ESPN

The recent statements by Marcos Rojo regarding his departure from Boca did not go unnoticed in the blue and gold world. One of those who replied was none other than Cristian Traverso, world champion with Xeneize in 2000 and current TyC Sports panelist, who directly targeted Racing's current defender.

"Obviously, it's annoying. Rojo can say whatever he wants, he doesn't lack personality. But if you closed the door and left, that's it. If you didn't say anything at the time, you have to deal with it. For me, there's no point in pulling the pin on the grenade and walking away. I don't agree at all. That's it, man, you went to Racing," Traverso said on a stream with journalist Claudio Civiello.

The former footballer  made it clear he was upset by Rojo's words and questioned the center-back's decision to now share what happened behind the scenes in the days leading up to his contract termination.

The statements that triggered Traverso's reaction were those Racing's current player made after qualifying for the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals. There, Rojo revealed that he experienced tough times at Boca with Miguel Ángel Russo and that he even had a one-on-one conversation with Juan Román Riquelme.

"When Miguel arrived, he told me he wasn't going to count on me. For me, it was very tough because I didn't expect it, he told me that I didn't have the age and that I couldn't play at that level," confessed the former Manchester United player. He added: "Before the last match, I had a tight quadriceps, I asked not to train and that's when Miguel got angry. We had an argument and I already knew I wasn't going to play anymore."

The center-back added that, before leaving, he tried to clarify the situation with the Football Council and with Claudio Úbeda: "I told him to his face that he knew I never disrespected Miguel." Regarding his relationship with Boca's current president, he was clear: "I ran into Román and asked him if there was a problem between us. He told me there wasn't, that everything was fine, and we parted on good terms."
