A neighbor from Córdoba was surprised when, upon opening her wardrobe, she found an opossum with four babies among her clothes. The incident took place in the Alejandro Centeno neighborhood and she immediately recalled the classic monorail episode from The Simpsons, when Homer discovers an opossum and exclaims: "I named the big one Cuca!"
According to the Córdoba Police, the woman quickly called the Environmental Patrol to avoid harming the animals. The officers confirmed that it was a mother and her babies, all in good health. The family was rescued and taken to the San Martín Urban Nature Reserve, where they were released into their natural habitat.
A rescue as tender as it is unusual
Representatives from the Environmental Patrol explained that these cases are rare, but they occur when opossums seek warm shelter to raise their young."They pose no danger and play an important role in the ecosystem," officials from the department stated. The operation was carried out without incident and the animals were assisted before their release.
The incident quickly went viral on social media, where users took the opportunity to make jokes about the situation. Some shared memes of Homer hugging "Cuca," while others wondered if the neighbor had already named hers. The scene, as unusual as it was charming, brought laughter throughout Córdoba.
Según informó la Policía de Córdoba, la mujer llamó rápidamente a la Patrulla Ambiental para evitar dañar a los animales.
From Springfield to Centeno neighborhood
Beyond the humorous tone, the event offered a lesson about coexistence between the city and native wildlife. Experts reminded the public that in similar situations, they should call the Environmental Patrol and avoid acting on their own.
The case ended happily: five healthy and free opossums, a neighbor who won the sympathy of social media, and a phrase that has already become immortalized. Because if Homer named an opossum "Cuca," Córdoba could not be left behind.
El caso cerró con final feliz: cinco comadrejas sanas y libres, una vecina que se ganó la simpatía de las redes y una frase que ya quedó inmortalizada.
