The result allowed Turkey to narrow the gap and take the series to an unexpected territory. With the possibility of closing the elimination only in the fourth match, the responsibility fell on Cerúndolo, who was included in place of Mariano Navone, who was seen as an alternative in case the match had already been decided.
The porteño, ranked 23rd in the world, left no room for surprises. Against Mert Alkaya, ranked 296th in the qualifiers, he comfortably won 6-1, 6-0 in just 47 minutes and secured the point the Argentine team needed to seal the series and thus avoid a second singles match between Thiago Tirante and Erel.
