The day Lospennato, Lousteau, and Máximo allied to decriminalize abortion

Silvia Lospennato, PRO candidate, hides her dark historical connection with Kirchnerism and pro-abortion progressivism

In an event that still generates divisions within Argentine politics,  Silvia Lospennato—then a national deputy and now one of the main candidates of PROjoined in 2020 with Máximo Kirchner and Martín Lousteau to support the abortion decriminalization project in Congress. That legislative session marked a turning point that exposed the deputy's true ideological stance:  far from the republicanism and moderation she proclaims, Lospennato  emerged as a key piece in consolidating the most radical leftist agenda.

During that process, Lospennato not only voted in favor of the project alongside Kirchnerism, but also facilitated that the symbolic and political capital of the sanction remained in the hands of the then-officialdom, despite the fact that former President Alberto Fernández's image was already in clear decline.

Martín Lousteau, meanwhile, repeatedly presented himself as one of the facilitators of the consensus between blocs to ensure the sanction. His role was key to  ensuring that sectors of radicalism accepted the global progressivism narrative framework.

The media support was not spontaneous either. Between 2018 and 2020, publications like Revista Anfibia and Cosecha Roja—members of the civil association Cronos—offered favorable coverage to both Lospennato and the "Las Sororas" collective, a space linked to feminist activism. These platforms were funded by organizations like USAID and NED, dependent on the U.S. government during Joe Biden's administration, as well as the Open Society Foundation of magnate George Soros. In 2024, Elon Musk publicly denounced these operations and ordered the freezing of funding destined for  ideological propaganda in Latin America through his companies.

But Lospennato's activism did not stop at abortion. Over the years, she participated in  more than 30 conferences and talks  where she promoted the so-called  "gender ideology," often backed by organizations like the  Public Defender's Office and Amnesty International. In this context, she worked closely with figures like Ofelia Fernández—a legislator of the  Frente de Todos—in the organization ELA (Latin American Team for Justice and Gender), funded by the UN, the European Union, and again, USAID.

One of the most controversial situations occurred when Lospennato celebrated on her social networks that "a 4-year-old child identifies as a transvestite," which caused widespread repudiation from conservative sectors who saw in that gesture an attempt to introduce concepts of ideological adult-centrism in childhood. Likewise,  she supported the inclusion of terms like "menstruating people" and "male complicity" in school materials through the #ESIGUALDAD program, promoted by Amnesty International.

With these antecedents, it is difficult to maintain the image of  Lospennato as a reference of a "center" space. Her performance in the public scene reflects a persistent alignment with ideological platforms unrelated to the concerns of the average PRO voter.
