According to county records, Merriweather was released on a $4,000 bond (about 4,000 dollars), although he only had to pay 10% of it to be released.

The violent African American has a criminal record, and his most recent criminal act was recorded on July 10 of this year when he was arrested for receiving stolen property, possessing weapons as a person with a legal disability, improper transportation of a firearm, and other charges.

In the viral video, it is observed that at least five people actively participate in the beating, while the number of those who celebrated the violence and did not call the police reaches into the hundreds.

The Trump administration is analyzing the case

The Fraternal Order of Police of Cincinnati (FOP) thanked the Cincinnati Police Department for arresting the two people so far charged in connection with the heinous attack that occurred on Saturday morning.

"This is your judicial system", reads part of the union's statement, referring to the fact that both defendants have already been released in a city governed by Democrats like Cincinnati.

Meanwhile, as the victims recover, the Trump Department of Justice has already announced that it is analyzing the video and doesn't rule out filing charges if there was a racial motivation in this attack.

United States Deputy Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon shared the video on social media and stated: "All Americans have the right to equal protection under the law. No one in our great nation should be a victim of this type of crime and, when race is a motive, federal law may apply."
