In the midst of the European transfer market, a completely atypical situation occurred: a sports journalist was detained and interrogated by authorities after publishing information about a supposed signing. The protagonist was Burhan Can Terzi, who later regained his freedom.

The case originated from information disseminated by Terzi about Jamal Musiala. The journalist had claimed that Galatasaray had agreed to the incorporation of the German player, a version that the club publicly denied and which ultimately led to an investigation by the Bakırköy Public Prosecutor's Office for the "alleged public dissemination of misleading information".

Galatasaray specifically questioned the reiteration of the information, considering that keeping alive a version that had already been denied could contribute to misleading the public. Terzi, far from retracting, defended the veracity of what he published.

The journalist maintained that he had information from various sources pointing to a possible arrival of Musiala at the Turkish team's training camp. He also stated that he was aware that Galatasaray could publicly deny the operation, but affirmed that he continued to fully trust his data and even put his own reputation as a guarantee.

In the midst of the investigation, Terzi pointed to Oktay Ercan, a Turkish businessman and owner of the Belgian club Westerlo, as the person who allegedly provided him with information about the supposed movement of the player.

As a result of the proceedings initiated by the Bakırköy Public Prosecutor's Office, the authorities transferred the journalist to a police station to take his statement. After answering the questions, he was released.

The detention, therefore, occurred within the framework of an investigation and does not represent a conviction against Terzi, who is also not currently in custody. Meanwhile, Galatasaray maintains its denial regarding the disseminated information and the case continues to be analyzed by Turkish authorities.
