The judiciary, controlled by Lula, justified the measure with the excuse of supposedly 'guaranteeing public order'
The Federal Police of Brazil's socialist dictator, Lula da Silva, preventively arrested former president and persecuted political figure, Jair Bolsonaro, on Saturday, convicted under the pretext of "attempting to carry out a coup d'état" and who until now had remained under house arrest.
Early in the morning, around 6:00, a team of agents arrived at Bolsonaro's residence, located in Brasília, where they proceeded to detain the right-wing leader, who was immediately transferred to police facilities.
According to the Globo group, Brazil's Supreme Court ordered the former president's preventive detention in order to supposedly "guarantee public order." In a brief statement, the Federal Police confirmed that "on Saturday, in Brasília, it executed a preventive detention order in accordance with a Supreme Court decision," without specifying the identity of the detainee.

The arrest of the former head of state comes just one day after his defense requested that the highest court allow Bolsonaro to serve the 27-year prison sentence under house arrest due to health reasons.
On September 11, the First Chamber of the Supreme Court, composed of judges allied with dictator Lula da Silva, sentenced Bolsonaro under the pretext of attempting to "perpetuate himself" in power with the alleged support of former ministers and high-ranking military officials, following his defeat in the 2022 elections against the current socialist leader.
The right-wing leader, 70 years old, had remained under house arrest at his home in Brasília since August 4. According to the local press, the preventive detention order issued on Saturday doesn't yet imply the start of the execution of the sentence, something that was expected in the coming weeks after the Supreme Court's initial rejection of the first appeals.

Bolsonaro's political persecution
The former president and political prisoner was sentenced to 27 years and three months in prison for allegedly "attempting to organize a coup d'état" against Lula da Silva in 2022, even though no credible evidence exists, according to the First Chamber of the Supreme Court.
With a result of 4 votes to 1, the justices decided to convict the Brazilian right-wing leader, accused of heading an armed criminal structure to remain in power after losing the 2022 elections to dictator Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
That 4 to 1 majority prevented Bolsonaro from appealing the ruling before the full STF. The decisive vote was cast by the president of the First Chamber, Cristiano Zanin, who was the current head of state's lawyer, and joined the positions of Alexandre de Moraes, Cármen Lúcia, and Flávio Dino, also close to the socialist leader.
