Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the narrative and gameplay relaunch of Omega Force's historic franchise, established itself as one of the studio's most successful titles in recent years. Based on its positive reception and solid sales numbers, producer Tomohiko Sho left open the possibility that the project could become a trilogy.
Although there is no official confirmation, the proposal arises in a favorable context for the saga, marked by the support of the public, the arrival of new downloadable content and its expansion to new platforms.
A change of focus in the story of the Three Kingdoms
Traditionally, Dynasty Warriors games comprehensively covered the era of China's Three Kingdoms, from the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the fall of the kingdom of Shu. However, Dynasty Warriors: Origins introduced a significant twist by prioritizing narrative depth and character development over constant action.

As a result of this decision, the game covers only the initial stretch of the conflict, from the first uprisings to the Battle of Chi Bi in the year 208 AD, leaving out key events that usually form part of the saga.
From duology to trilogy: the producer's explanation
Tomohiko Sho explained that, at first, the plan was to tell the entire story up to the Battle of Wuzhang Plains in only two games. However, the level of detail achieved in Origins changed that objective.
According to the producer, maintaining that narrative standard in a sequel would make it impossible to cover the rest of the historical period without sacrificing depth. For that reason, a trilogy appears as a more coherent alternative to develop the events and characters with the same care.
