In a context marked by a greater supply of dollars in the local market and by the reconfiguration of the economic model promoted by the current administration, the Government emphasized that the Knowledge Economy reached a new record for exports in 2025. The sector had a turnover of US$ 9.6 billion in foreign sales, a figure that positions it as one of the main generators of foreign exchange for the country and which already represents half of all the services that Argentina exports to the world. The economic team led by Minister Luis Caputo emphasized the strategic role of this activity within the national export structure. The Ministry of Commerce pointed out that exports from the sector, which reached US$ 9.6 billion over the past year, are currently equivalent to 53% of total external sales of services, thus consolidating its weight in

Argentine international trade.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Economy emphasized that exports of services based on the Knowledge Economy registered the highest value in the historical series in 2025, with that US$ 9.6 billion, which also implied a year-on-year increase of 8.1%, according to INDEC data. The Government explained that “this indicator reflects that the Knowledge Economy represents more than half of the services that Argentina exports to the world, with a share of 53% of total foreign sales.” Along the same lines, they added: “With this performance, the sector is consolidated as the third export complex in the country, behind oilseeds and petroleum-petrochemicals, and as a key source of

foreign exchange generation.”

In addition to the impact on dollar income, the Executive highlighted two central aspects of the sector: the generation of employment and the highly qualified profile of its workers. Currently, the knowledge economy employs 285,000 people across the country, with an increase of 9,000 employees during 2025. If the period since 2023 is taken as a reference, the sector created more than 17,000 new jobs, according to data from the Undersecretary of Industry and Knowledge Economy of the Ministry of Economy, prepared on the basis of the SIPA (Argentine Integrated Social Security System)

.

The Treasury Palace also highlighted the wage quality of the sector. “It is also noteworthy that the average remuneration of the sector was higher than the rest of the economy, a differential associated with the high demand for talent and the degree of specialization required,” said sources from the Ministry. They added: “In this sense, 80% of the workforce has university studies, which positions the sector among the highest-qualified activities in the country and as a key driver of quality employment

.”

The performance achieved in 2025 is not an isolated event, but is part of a trend of sustained growth. During 2024, foreign sales in this sector had reached US$ 8,927 million, which was 15.5% more than the previous year, according to the Argenconomics report by Argencon. Thus, the jump to US$ 9.6 billion in 2025 consolidates an upward curve that, according to industry analysts, did not stop either in the face of the domestic recession or in the face

of exchange rate volatility.

At the international level, the market for knowledge-based services is also expanding strongly. Global exports of this type of service exceeded US$ 4 trillion in 2024, with a year-on-year growth of 9.5%, a rate four times higher than that of trade in goods. In this competitive scenario, Argentina ranks 43rd among world exporters, with a share of 0.23% of the global

total.

Looking to the immediate future, companies in the sector maintain positive expectations regarding their external performance. The companies based in Argencon plan to expand their international sales this year. According to the latest Outlook Survey, 57% of firms anticipate that their exports will increase in the coming year. If we add to that group the 35.6% that expects to maintain current levels, the result shows that 9 out of 10 companies expect, at least, to sustain their

international presence.

However, the report also warns that, despite optimism, costs continue to be a central factor in the business agenda. According to the study, positive prospects coexist with greater international trade pressure, in which cost competitiveness is consolidated as the determining factor for decision-making in global markets

.

In this regard, the president of Argencon, Sebastián MoCorrea, said that “Argentina has a concrete opportunity to consolidate itself as a global provider of knowledge-based services, but that requires maintaining competitive conditions over time. In a market where clients compare talent and costs in real time, any misalignment directly impacts the ability to grow

and export.”
