The Governor of Buenos Aires Province issued a poorly written statement through his X account

While Buenos Aires province once again became the epicenter of horror with the brutal murder of three young women in Florencio Varela, Governor Axel Kicillof was on a political tour in New York, participating in a tribute to former Uruguayan President José "Pepe" Mujica and warning the world about "the dangers of Javier Milei's government".

Far from the residents, from the streets taken over by drug traffickers, and from the families destroyed by violence, the provincial leader decided to make a statement through his official Twitter (X) account. However, he could not even do that properly.

In his tweet, where he tried to join in with a solemn tone to the widespread condemnation of the triple femicide that shook Ciudad Evita and ended with the discovery of three dismembered bodies, Kicillof wrote: "The investigation into the heinous murders of Brenda del Castillo, Lara Gutiérrez, and Morena Verdi is progressing...".

The problem is that the victim's correct name is Morena Verri, not Verdi. This detail did not go unnoticed among social media users, who quickly erupted in criticism against the governor for his total disconnection from the events and for making such a serious mistake in the midst of a national tragedy.

The message, which attempted to present itself as an institutional statement, only served to expose the level of improvisation and distance between Kicillof and the province he governs. Meanwhile, while Buenos Aires Police were digging in a house in Florencio Varela to recover the bodies of Brenda, Lara, and Morena, the governor was thousands of kilometers (miles) away, taking photos with Latin American leftist leaders.

Instead of returning to the country immediately or going to the scene to lead the operation or support the families, the leader chose to talk about "gender-based violence" and "international drug traffickers based in CABA," in an obvious attempt to divert the focus of responsibility.

The fact that he got one of the girls' last names wrong ended up confirming what many Buenos Aires residents have felt for a long time: that the governor is more concerned with building a political career abroad and attacking Milei than with ensuring security in his own territory.

The tweet, far from generating empathy or support, was met with messages of anger and disbelief. "How can he get the name of a victim of such horror wrong?" users asked. Others directly questioned: "Does he really govern this province?"
