End of the saga: Boca sold Vicente Taborda to Panathinaikos of Greece

As the transfer window was closing, Bocafinalized the departure of Vicente Taborda, one of the promising talents who emerged from its youth divisions. The midfielder from Entre Ríos, who is 23 years old, will have his first international experience, as he will be transferred to Panathinaikos of Greece, which will pay 5 million dollars for 80% of his transfer rights.

In this regard, Xeneize will retain 20% of his rights and, additionally, Platense will receive 10% of the transaction as a "showcase" fee, as stipulated at the time of his loan.

The main competitor in the negotiation was Hellas Verona, which had offered a loan with a purchase option, but the Greeks ultimately prevailed.

Regarding his destination, the Greek team recently eliminated Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League play-offs and is seeking to reach the group stage after facing Samsunspor of Türkiye. Domestically, in the most recent Greek Super League, it finished second behind Olympiacos.

Taborda, meanwhile, will share the squad with three South Americans: the Argentine Daniel Mancini, the Uruguayan Facundo Pellistri, and the Brazilian Tetê.

Taborda's time at Boca and Platense

Wearing the blue and gold jersey, Taborda played 17 matches (6 as a starter), without scoring any goals, and was part of the squad that won the 2022 Professional League. He also played the final minutes of the 2023 Libertadores final against Fluminense, despite not having had regular playing time in the competition.

His breakthrough came at Platense: under the leadership of the Orsi-Gómez duo, he was an undisputed starter and one of the standout players for Marrón, which won the most recent Torneo Apertura.

In that tournament, he scored five goals (including one against River at the Monumental) and provided one assist in 19 matches. In total, wearing the Calamar jersey, he played 36 official matches.
