In this context, Enzo Fernández arrived in the country this Wednesday and made his stance on both issues clear.
The midfielder, recently signed by Manchester City, arrived in Ezeiza to join the squad that will play friendlies against Bolivia, Burkina Faso, and Benin. After getting off the plane, he expressed his happiness to be back with his teammates and stated: "Very happy to be here again. Now to enjoy with my family and the national team. It's always special to come back, for me it's a privilege to be part of the national team".
One of the main focuses of the call-up will be on Messi, who will have his last match with the national team jersey on October 6 against Benin. In this regard, the former River player acknowledged: "It's a farewell that hurts a lot, but we have to enjoy this moment with Leo that is so special. We know the legacy he leaves and how special he is for us".
When imagining the phase that will begin after Messi's departure, the 25-year-old player asked not to rush and focused on the present. "He hasn't left yet, we have to enjoy it to the fullest and from there a strong process begins", he affirmed.
The other issue affecting the National Team is the continuity of Scaloni. The coach is negotiating with the AFA for an extension of his contract, which ends in December, and Enzo Fernández clearly expressed his support for him to remain in charge of the team.
