Families denounce ideological indoctrination at Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires

Family members warn about political talks, use of inclusive language, and the disastrous condition of the facilities

A serious complaint about the Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires (CNBA), one of the most important educational institutions in the country, once again brings the debate on left-wing ideological indoctrination in public schools to the forefront.

According to the testimony of a relative of a first-year student, so far this school year, students have already lost at least five days of class. Four of them were due to strikes, while one was replaced by a mandatory day organized by the left-wing student center, which included talks with figures like Eduardo Belliboni and Vanina Biasi.

Visit the Former ESMA with Tinta Roja, 30,000! It was genocide. On Saturday, December 4th at 2 PM, we will conduct a guided tour of the Former ESMA, one of the country's most emblematic memory sites that operated as a clandestine center for detention, torture, and extermination during the last dictatorship. It was one of the largest centers in the country; it is estimated that around 5,000 people were held captive there as part of the systematic extermination plan carried out by the dictatorship to eradicate an entire generation of political activists, workers, and students who were organizing to change the world. The government's denialist rhetoric has severe consequences and goes hand in hand with the repressive policy they use to push their attack plan against workers, women, diverse communities, students, and retirees. We also see it in the depletion that memory spaces like the Former ESMA are experiencing, with defunding and mass layoffs. That's why we visit the Former ESMA to once again raise high the anti-capitalist and revolutionary flags of the 30,000 detained-disappeared and confront the government's denial, saying

"They take them out of the classroom to listen to militant politicians. Last week, for instance, they took them to a talk by Leandro Santoro as part of his political campaign. All during school hours," the relative complains.

The account also exposes the systematic use of inclusive language by teachers, especially in the Language subject, despite the Government's ban on its use in the school environment for hindering reading and writing comprehension.

Academically, the criticisms are swift. During the entrance course, the book "Gente Conmigo" was assigned as mandatory reading, a novel aimed at an adult audience, with content inappropriate for teenagers. "It's horrifying," says the complainant.

But indoctrination is not the only problem. The conditions at CNBA also raise concerns. The bathrooms, as described, are in a deplorable state: with noodles in the toilets, yerba scattered in the sinks, and unbearable odors.

This situation directly impacts school absenteeism, especially among female students, who can't do without access to a clean and functional bathroom during their menstrual period.

"The school is taken over by Kirchnerism. Parents are afraid to speak out, fearing their children will be harmed. But it can no longer be silenced," the testimony concludes.

The authorities of CNBA, dependent on the University of Buenos Aires, do not offer explanations in response to these complaints. Meanwhile, demands are growing for the school to return to what it once was: a true center of educational excellence, free from decay and left-wing political indoctrination.
