Some governors and mayors in the country have interpreted that, after decades of populism and decline, today Argentina is experiencing a different time.

That the times of wastefulness and the elephantine State are over, that was poorly managed, incurred debts, and flaunted its obscene lack of transparency.

With a government that arrived to essentially change practices that hinder development, some have discovered that the path to progress is freedom, investment, and economic order.

The mayor of the city of La Calera in Córdoba, Fernando Rambaldi, is one of those who is aligned with the policies promoted by President Javier Milei.

Rambaldi wants a transparent and agile municipality

Several weeks ago, he succeeded in having the City Council approve a government initiative to lower taxes with the goal of boosting private investment, regularize the situation of small businesses, and reduce the tax burden on productive activities.

In addition, after obtaining the ISO 9001 standard in service quality for residents, he achieved that the Municipality of La Calera became the second municipality in the country and the first in the province of Córdoba to obtain the international ISO 37001 certification in anti-bribery policy.

He is also working on audits to be the first municipality to certify the 37301 standard, related to compliance, that is, the set of policies, procedures, and practices that an organization implements to ensure that its activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, ethical standards, and norms.

"We are convinced that this type of measure will make the State more efficient and transparent," said Rambaldi.

Rambaldi, welcomed in Buenos Aires

This week, the mayor was in Buenos Aires, where he was received by national officials in various ministries, in which he shared management experiences.

"We came to explain how we are making progress in eliminating taxes to promote the private sector, so that the State stops being the foolish partner, so we can work freely and generate employment and wealth," he stated.

"We are in tune with the new economic and political winds in Argentina, which we believe is correct. Having a smaller, more efficient State, and a dynamic private sector that generates employment and wealth," he summarized.

Rambaldi toured a YPF plant that amazed him due to its level of growth, efficiency, and transparency. "It is on par with the world's major oil companies," he commented.

During his administration, among other milestones, Rambaldi managed to recover, thanks to efficient use of own resources and financing from Bancor, the Municipality's Vehicle Fleet and to have its own after 20 years.

Seeking to make La Calera a leading city in the Sierras Chicas

"La Calera is gradually becoming a leading city in Córdoba and all of Sierras Chicas," he stated.

He also held meetings with members of the CAF financing organization, thanks to contacts he made during his trips to Colombia and Brazil.

"Back then, I participated in work panels on riverside cities. What are the challenges for cities like ours that have the river as their backbone. In our case, the Suquía runs through the middle of the city and for a long time it has been neglected," he said.

"The project for growth and development over the next 20 years is to do so in harmony with the river. That's why we are working with international organizations, not only to seek financing because these are very large investments, but also to share projects and ideas for solutions," he concluded.
