Formula 1: Colapinto received an additional penalty for his dangerous maneuver on Piastri
In addition to the 5-second penalty, the Argentine's action had an additional consequence that could affect him in the future
The Austrian Grand Prix was complicated forFranco Colapinto, who not only suffered from an Alpine lacking competitive pace, but was also involved in two on-track incidents: the collision with Yuki Tsunoda and the dangerous maneuver on Oscar Piastri.
This latter incident had severe consequences, as the Argentine driver received a five-second penalty that, applied at the end of the race, relegated him to 15th place. However, the penalty did not end there: the stewards, supported by the regulations, also decided to add a penalty point to his super license.
La polémica con Piastri
These points serve as warnings that remain valid for 12 months; if a driver accumulates 12 points in that period, he receives a one-race suspension. In Colapinto's case, this is his third point, since he had received the other two at theMexican Grand Prix last season after a collision with Liam Lawson, which, fortunately for him, will expire next October 27.
For now, Colapinto is still far from the most severe penalty, which has only been suffered by one driver since this penalty system was implemented: Kevin Magnussen. The Haas driver had reached the super license points limit after a collision with Pierre Gasly at last year's Monza Grand Prix, which forced him to miss the Azerbaijan GP (Baku).

Beyond that, the episode in Austria and the third point are a warning that forces him to take extra precautions in the upcoming rounds if he doesn't want to increase his negative balance on the super license.
