Formula 1: Franco Colapinto couldn't start, and Pierre Gasly scored points in the British GP
In a challenging Silverstone, McLaren dominated, Hulkenberg achieved the first podium of his career, and Alpine salvaged points
The British Grand Prix began with a major blow for Franco Colapinto: the Argentine driver, who was supposed to start from the pits after a power unit change in his Alpine, couldn't even take the start due to new issues with his car. It was the first official retirement of a race that would later be marked by rain, strategic errors, and collisions that altered the final result.
At the start, Max Verstappen held the lead despite low visibility in the pack. However, chaos arrived quickly: Charles Leclerc and George Russell opted for slick tires before completing the formation lap, but the wet track left them with no chance. Soon, the New Zealander Liam Lawson retired after a collision with a Haas and later the Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) followed the same path, both incidents forcing two Virtual Safety Cars.

When the race resumed, Oscar Piastri surprised Verstappen and took the lead, with Lando Norris in third. The rain complicated everything again, causing another Safety Car that neutralized the competition. During that phase, drivers like Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, and Nico Hulkenberg moved up among the leaders, putting pressure on Lewis Hamilton.
The restart brought more drama: Isack Hadjar crashed heavily into Antonelli, leaving both out of the race due to the damage and forcing another long period behind the safety car. Later, Piastri made a key mistake by braking hard while leading the restart and Verstappen had to avoid him, and the Australian's maneuver cost him a 10-second penalty that he served in the pits, thus giving up first place to his teammate Lando Norris.

The Dutchman didn't escape unscathed either, as immediately afterward he spun, dropped to ninth position, and ultimately finished sixth. Meanwhile, Norris, with a clear path, took the victory at home and celebrated in front of his fans, followed by Piastri and Hulkenberg, who achieved a historic first podium in Formula 1 after 241 races entered and 239 starts, as well as being Sauber's first podium since the 2012 Japanese GP.

On the other hand, Hamiltonbroke his streak of 11 consecutive podiums at Silverstone, finishing fourth with his Ferrari. Behind, Stroll finished fifth, Gasly was seventh, followed by Fernando Alonso, Alex Albon, and Russell, who completed the points.
