Formula 1: Mercedes dominated and Colapinto couldn't maintain his position at the Canadian GP
George Russell gave Mercedes its first victory of the year, and Kimi Antonelli achieved his first podium. Franco Colapinto finished 13th after a challenging race
This Sunday, the Canadian Grand Prix took place, corresponding to the tenth round of the Formula 1 World ChampionshipFormula 1. The winner was George Russell, who dominated the race from the start and secured his first victory of the season, both personally and for his team, Mercedes-Benz.
On a day marked by changing weather conditions and several incidents on track, Kimi Antonelli, the other driver for the German team, was chosen as "Driver of the Day," after achieving a valuable third place (the first podium of his career) that confirms his growth in the category.

Meanwhile, Franco Colapintocrossed the finish line in 13th position, after having started from tenth place. The Argentine was close to scoring his first points, but the strategy from Alpine was not the most successful and his performance also failed to stand out.
"We were on the wrong strategy, a shame, I think we had a good car for today in clean air, in dirty air it was complicated," commented the Argentine after the race. "It wasn't the Sunday we expected," he concluded. Despite losing several positions, he took advantage of the contact between the two McLaren cars at the end to recover.

Regarding the latter, as the race was ending, it seemed they were going to share fourth and fifth place; however, with only three laps remaining, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri made slight contact on a straight, causing the former to crash and subsequently retire.
In addition to the Mercedes drivers, the podium was completed by Max Verstappen (2nd), who recovered from his 10th place in Spain and continues to fight in the drivers' standings. The other drivers who scored points were: Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Nico Hülkenberg (Kick Sauber), Esteban Ocon (Haas), and Carlos Sainz Jr. (Williams).
The next round of the championship will be the Austrian Grand Prix, from June 27 to 29, at the Red Bull Ring circuit in the village of Spielberg.
