The Spanish Grand Prix once again placed Franco Colapinto among the protagonists of Formula 1. After a qualifying session that placed him ninth on the grid, the Argentine managed to advance during the race and crossed the finish line in seventh place, a result that allowed him to earn six points and reach 27 points in the championship.

Once the competition was over, the Alpine driver analyzed his performance throughout the weekend in front of the media and particularly highlighted his track performance. In this context, he also pointed out a situation that required more than he expected: the duel with Gabriel Bortoleto.

"It was a good race, it's among the best. It was a complete weekend, yesterday I think I had the best qualifying. I started well again, advanced and lost a lot of time with Bortoleto. I couldn't get close and I couldn't pass him. He was moving quite poorly and I was close to touching him. I'm happy that I managed to pass him and keep the seventh position", explained Colapinto.

The Argentine elaborated on that moment of the competition and acknowledged that the Brazilian affected part of his strategy. "I'm happy with the race I had, it was a clean race. Passing Bortoleto complicated my race a bit, but then I was able to maintain it. It was a great race and I'm very grateful", he stated.

Beyond the result, Colapinto also had a special moment after receiving the Argentine flag at the end of the competition and waving it during the victory lap. Regarding this, he shared how he got it: "A marshal gave it to me. He was waiting for me to give it to me and I thank him for that. I'm happy to carry the Argentine flag here, which was full of Argentines".

The support from the fans was one of the aspects that most moved the Alpine driver, who emphasized the magnitude of the support received on the Spanish track. "I think it's one of the largest, probably with Brazil. It makes me happy to see them cheering, when the race ended I went to greet them. I'm proud that there are so manys", he concluded.

With the seventh place, Colapinto once again demonstrated a good race pace and achieved a new harvest of points in a season where he seeks to establish himself more and more among the protagonists of the category.

When Colapinto will race again

After his brilliant performance on Spanish soil, the Argentine will now travel to Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Due to the fact that Sunday, September 27, is celebrated in that country as Remembrance Day, in memory of those who fell during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the action will be moved up 24 hours, so the competition will start on Thursday, September 24, with the first free practices and will conclude on Saturday, September 26, with the main race.

In his previous appearances on the urban circuit of the capital of the Asian country, the native of Pilar had very different results. In 2024, when he was still part of Williams, he finished eighth, earning his first points as a Formula 1 driver, while in 2025, already with Alpine, he finished in 19th place out of 20, largely marked by the poor performance of his car.
