Gemini Live is about to deeply change the voice conversation experience on Android. Google is preparing a series of improvements that aim for more thoughtful, natural, and contextual responses.
The central innovation is the addition of the reasoning mode, along with a package of experimental features that seek to narrow the gap with the most advanced AI assistants on the market.

What is the new "Live Thinking Mode"
Currently, Gemini's advanced voice mode runs on Gemini 2.5 Flash. However, according to the specialized outlet 9to5Google, the arrival of Gemini 3 Pro will mark a turning point.
The so-called Live Thinking Mode will allow Gemini to take more time before responding. The idea is clear: to prioritize more elaborate answers, with better reasoning and greater depth.
Labs: the laboratory where the future is tested
These new features appear within Labs, Google's testing space for experimental functions. Version 17.2 of the Gemini app reveals at least four new capabilities.

Among them, the standouts are multimodal memory, improved noise cancellation, and the ability to respond when it sees or identifies something, a key feature for real-time interaction.
