Through Decree 695/24, published in the Official Gazette, the Government authorized the partial privatization of Nucleoeléctrica Argentina S.A. (NA-SA), the state-owned company responsible for energy generation at the nuclear power plants Atucha I, Atucha II, and Embalse. This measure is part of the Bases Law 27,742, which allows for the partial sale of state-owned companies, provided that the State retains majority control of the share capital.
According to the approved scheme, 44% of NA-SA's shares will be put up for sale in a public bidding process, open to both domestic and international bidders. In addition, a Participated Ownership Program (PPP) will be implemented, reserving 5% of the shares for the company's employees.
State retains control
51% of the shares will remain under state control, represented by the Secretariat of Energy and the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA). This way, the Government will retain the authority to approve strategic decisions such as expansion projects, construction of new plants, or possible service withdrawals.
Likewise, prior transfers were established to reorganize the shareholding distribution before the bidding process. Energía Argentina S.A. (Enarsa) and CNEA must transfer their holdings to the Secretariat of Energy, which will act as the representative of the national State in the process.
