The Government of Javier Milei took a new step in the privatization process of Argentinian Water and Sanitation Sociedad Anónima (AySA) and approved the model Concession Contract that will govern the relationship between the State and the future operator of the company.
The decision was formalized through Resolution 543/2026, published this Tuesday in the Official Gazette, which establishes the bases for the transfer of the company and the conditions it must meet during the transition to a new ownership.
As provided, AySA will have to implement a transition action plan to sustain adequate operational management while the change of control takes place. This stage seeks to avoid alterations in the provision of essential services such as drinking water and the sewer system
.
The scheme designed by the Executive aims at the incorporation of a strategic operator, which will be selected through a national and international public tender process. The objective is to advance the sale of at least 51% of the company's stock package
.The measure is part of the application of Law 27,742, which declared the company “subject to privatization” and empowered the Government to carry out the necessary mechanisms to divest itself of state majority participation.
