With an investment of nearly 30,000 million pesos (66,139,000 pounds), the national government presented a plan to modernize Garrahan Hospital
Presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni confirmed this Friday the launch of a comprehensive modernization plan for the Hospital Garrahan, with a budget of nearly 30,000 million pesos (66,139,000 USD). The objective is to raise the quality of medical care and reposition the hospital as a regional leader in high-complexity pediatrics.
"As a result of the new administration's efficiency, nearly 30,000 million pesos (66,139,000 USD) will be invested in new equipment and expansion works at the Hospital Garrahan. All of this is achieved with the hospital's own funds, without additional transfers, thanks to efficient resource management," Adorni stated.
Technological advances and key projects

The plan includes the incorporation of a Pediatric Linear Accelerator, the only one in Latin America, which will allow for more precise and less invasive oncology treatments. It also includes the expansion of the Bone Marrow Transplant Area, which will prevent costly transfers of patients abroad.
In addition, four out-of-service operating rooms will be reopened, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and an ambulance equipped with an ECMO system will be added to transport critical patients both in the AMBA and from airports on medical flights.
Infrastructure and equipment renewal
Among the improvements, the renovation of 400 beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs stands out, many of which have been in use for more than 30 years, and the purchase of new renal and hepatic perfusion machines. Resources will also be invested in equipment for sterilization, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, and laboratory.
Health Minister Mario Lugones stated: "Today we are taking a historic step for Garrahan with an unprecedented investment of nearly 30,000 million pesos (66,139,000 USD) for works and modernization of equipment."

More resources for staff and a look at the past
Adorni recalled that the plan is in addition to the permanent monthly supplement already announced for the hospital's doctors and administrative staff. Meanwhile, he contrasted the current situation with the institution's previous state: "We found overcrowded wards, ceilings falling to pieces, and water leaks. That painful past is behind us."
State-of-the-art equipment
The modernization includes the purchase of high-precision microscopes, C-arms, intraoperative ultrasound machines, and the updating of equipment in imaging, pathology, microbiology, and pharmacy. Support technology such as medical device washers, autoclaves, and advanced diagnostic systems will also be acquired.
"As a former president said: better than saying is doing, better than promising is delivering," Adorni concluded.
