The National Government took a decisive step to strengthen the Argentine energy system by moving forward with the National Plan for the Expansion of Electric Power Transmission. Through Decree 921/2025, published this Monday, the execution of priority works was authorized through the public works concession regime, a scheme that allows private sector participation without compromising fiscal resources.
The measure aims to solve structural problems that have affected the electrical system for years, such as bottlenecks in energy transmission, the lack of sustained investment, and the risks of supply cuts in different regions of the country. In practical terms, the goal is to strengthen the national grid and ensure that the energy caused can reach consumption centers efficiently.

According to the decree, the expansion works considered a priority will be carried out through public tenders, both national and international, under the framework of the Public Works Concession Law. This scheme allows private companies to take charge of the construction, operation, and maintenance of the infrastructure, ensuring clear rules, legal predictability, and long-term economic sustainability.
The regulation also defines the institutional framework of the process. The Secretariat of Energy, which reports to the Ministry of Economy, will be responsible for executing the tenders, which includes the drafting and approval of the bidding terms, the call for bids, the evaluation of offers, and the awarding of contracts. The Ministry of Economy will act as the enforcement and oversight authority, reinforcing transparency and regulatory order.
The Executive Branch emphasizes that this model makes it possible to unlock long-postponed investments in a key sector, avoiding the use of public funds in a context of fiscal discipline and balanced state accounts. The logic is clear: more infrastructure, better service, and less pressure on the budget.
El Gobierno habilitó la inversión privada para ampliar el sistema eléctrico.
The strengthening of electric power transmission is considered an indispensable condition to accompany the growth in demand, improve the reliability of the system, and enable the development of new energy generation. In addition, a more robust grid reduces the restrictions that currently affect residential users, industries, and regional economies, directly impacting competitiveness and productive development.
The National Plan for the Expansion of Electric Power Transmission is thus consolidated as a central component of the Government's energy strategy, aimed at normalizing the sector, attracting private investment, and laying the foundations of a modern system, reliable and prepared for Argentina's growth.
