Argentina will join Pax Silica this week, an international initiative driven by the United States to secure supply chains related to artificial intelligence, critical minerals, energy, and advanced technologies. The incorporation was announced by Pablo Quirno and marks a new step in the strategic alignment of the Government of Javier Milei with Washington and the global agenda of technological leadership.

The initiative aims to build a network of reliable countries to develop the technological ecosystem of the new era of artificial intelligence. In a world where the competition for semiconductors, energy, data, and strategic minerals has become a central axis of economic and national security, Argentina enters a key platform to attract investments, strengthen its export profile, and gain prominence in new geopolitical discussions.

Pablo Quirno confirmed that the adhesion will take place during the week.

As explained by Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, Pax Silica will allow the country to participate in joint efforts to secure investments, build infrastructure, and generate incentives at all levels of the global artificial intelligence supply chain. This point is directly connected to the debate currently taking place in Congress regarding the super RIGI, a key tool of the Government to attract large strategic investments.

“In this way, Argentina consolidates itself as a reliable supplier of critical minerals and strategic resources necessary for the development of artificial intelligence and a relevant player in technological matters”, he stated through his social media.

The adhesion comes in continuity with the Framework Instrument for Strengthening Supply in Mining and Processing of Critical Minerals, signed in February. That agreement opened a path for deeper cooperation with the United States, and the incorporation into Pax Silica reinforces that strategic relationship: to strengthen the supply of critical minerals and reduce Western dependence on chains dominated by China.

The main objective of the initiative is to promote a new consensus on economic security among allies and trusted partners. Its focus is to reduce excessive dependencies, protect sensitive technologies, strengthen digital infrastructure, and coordinate investments in decisive sectors for the new technological revolution.

Pax Silica encompasses areas such as software, advanced artificial intelligence models, network infrastructure, connectivity, computing, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, logistics, mineral refining and processing, as well as energy. It is an international architecture designed to organize the production chains that will underpin technological growth in the coming decades.

For Argentina, joining represents seizing a historic window of opportunity. The country has strategic natural resources and seeks to position itself as a stable partner for long-term investments. The Milei administration has been insisting on the need to open the economy, provide regulatory predictability, and leverage energy and mining potential as engines of development.
