The government deregistered two new health insurance providers due to a lack of regularization.

There are already five entities that have been removed from the registry in the past week

The national government continues its policy of purging the healthcare system and, through the Superintendence of Health Services (SSS), decided to remove two new healthcare providers from the National Registry of Insurance Agents (RNAS). These are the Healthcare Provider for Municipal Staff of Avellaneda and the Healthcare Provider for Sugar Mill Staff of Ingenio San Martín, both in critical condition for more than two years.

The measure was made official this Monday in the Official Gazette through resolutions 1092/2025 and 1093/2025. According to reports,  the entities did not meet the requirements set by the SSS to regularize their administrative and financial situation. During the crisis period, they also did not submit the requested documentation or correct the irregularities detected by the audits.

Continuity of coverage for members is guaranteed

The Superintendence indicated that the beneficiaries of the deregistered healthcare providers "will be informed of the situation" and will have guaranteed health coverage. They may choose to transfer to another insurance agent, and if they do not, the state agency will assign them a new healthcare provider with similar characteristics.

With these two new exclusions,  there are now five entities removed from the RNAS in recent days. Last week, the registration of the Healthcare Provider for Customs Staff was revoked and proceedings began for the removal of two others: the one for Button Industry Staff and the one for Cinematographic Staff of Mar del Plata.

Intensification of controls and new financing criteria

SSS sources explained to Infobae that the current administration "will not allow entities that present irregularities or provide low-quality services." The head of the agency, Gabriel Oriolo, emphasized that the goal is to guarantee the sustainability of the system and promote transparent competition. "Beneficiaries must have the freedom to choose coverage that offers them quality and efficiency," he stated.

The adjustment in the financing system is also part of this restructuring plan. Following a modification in the calculation of the Asymmetry Mitigation Subsidy (SUMA),  the distribution of state funds is now based on the actual number of members and no longer includes extra compensation for entities with fewer than 5,000 beneficiaries.

This decision affected 201 of the 290 registered healthcare providers, which suffered an immediate loss of 3.483 billion pesos (7.68 million pounds). Meanwhile, those that declared a higher number of members benefited from the new criteria.

End to "rubber stamps" in the system

The elimination of so-called "paper healthcare providers" or  "rubber stamps"—organizations that registered to receive subsidies without providing real coverage—became a priority for Javier Milei's government. The lack of controls in previous years allowed these  entities to inflate records and improperly capture public funds.

In the same vein, in February of this year the SSS also decided to eliminate intermediation between healthcare providers and private medical companies. This provision caused resistance within the union movement, although several union leaders privately admitted that the greatest impact was on structures that were not very transparent or did not provide effective services.
