Gustavo Quinteros made a decision in response to Riquelme's interest in replacing Gago.
The coach knows he is Gabriel Milito's alternative to take over at Boca following Pintita's departure
Boca continues the search for its next coach, and the main target would be Gabriel Milito. Juan Román Riquelme aims to finalize the arrival of the former Atlético Mineiro coach, although he also considers other options in case the coach's response is negative. The main alternative plan is Gustavo Quinteros, the current champion of Argentine soccer.
After a brief and unsuccessful stint with Gremio de Porto Alegre, the former Vélez coach is open to new proposals to return to coaching. Quinteros has already been informed of Xeneize's interest, as well as the detail that he is not the priority on the list, and he has already made a decision.

Quinteros has decided not to entertain offers from other teams until the situation with Boca is clarified. The coach is eager to be the coach and will wait as long as necessary to be available when the contact comes. So much so, that he even postponed a trip abroad waiting for the president's call.
One of the clubs affected by this stance is Talleres, which is also looking for a new coach to replace Pablo Guiñazú's interim position. The coach will only listen to the proposal from the Cordoba club when the situation with the club from La Ribera is completely solved.

Quinteros knows he is appreciated by the Xeneize president, as he was considered before hiring Fernando Gago, after Diego Martínez's departure. Back then, the coach preferred to continue leading Vélez, in the midst of the Professional League and the Argentine Cup. Later, he would leave his position after becoming champion and move to Brazil.
Boca and the Milito plan
Juan Román Riquelme will go all out for Gabriel Milito and will seek to arrange a face-to-face meeting in the short term. The first step is to get the coach to agree to meet to see if he is willing to take on the role quickly.
Xeneize is clear that both Quinteros and Kily González, the two alternatives they are considering if Milito doesn't accept, have already expressed their interest and willingness to take charge of the team ahead of the Torneo Apertura Playoffs and the Club World Cup. The next Xeneize coach will be one of those three.
