The fever for Baldur’s Gate 3 is making a strong leap to television. Craig Mazin, creator of The Last of Us, has been put in charge of an HBO series that won't be a simple adaptation of the video game.
According to the confirmed information, the story will begin after the end of the game, picking up the protagonists and showing the consequences of their decisions. For many fans, it could work as a kind of sequel without waiting for an eventual Baldur’s Gate 4.

A narrative continuity that opens up a huge challenge
The biggest creative challenge is clear from the start. Baldur’s Gate 3 became a phenomenon precisely because each playthrough has a different ending, shaped by moral choices, romances, and sacrifices.
Bringing that to TV implies defining a "common" narrative without betraying the spirit of the game. The series will have to decide which events become canon and how to coexist with an experience that was born personalized.
Craig Mazin's full role and the backing of Dungeons & Dragons
Mazin will take on an integral role as creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner. The project will have the backing of Hasbro and the participation of Chris Perkins as a consultant, a key figure within the Dungeons & Dragons universe.
