Almost a month after the crime that shocked all of Argentina, relatives and friends of Morena Verdi —one of the three young women murdered in Florencio Varela— are still demanding justice. The investigation is progressing with more than ten people detained and new charges that reinforce the hypothesis of a drug trafficking-related settling of scores.
On September 19, Morena, Brenda Del Castillo, and Lara Gutiérrez were kidnapped and murdered after being hired to attend an alleged party. According to the prosecution, the young women voluntarily got into a white Tracker SUV without knowing they were being taken into a deadly trap.
Amid the pain, Sabrina, Morena's mother, spoke publicly about how she is coping these days. "The girls give me strength. Yesterday I had a crying fit and the only thing that calmed me was communicating with them. I lay down on the couch and told Brenda and Morena: 'Girls, hug mommy because she's very distressed.' That's how it went by," she recounted with a trembling voice on the program Mujeres argentinas.

The woman explained that every night she waits for her daughters as if nothing had happened. "I sit on the couch and wait for both of them to come in together, as they always did, greeting me and checking if there was something to eat. I can't accept that I'm never going to see my daughter again. Since everything happened, I've had many panic attacks, something that had never happened to me before," she said.
Despite having received threats, her goal is clear: never stop demanding justice. "I demand justice all the time. I gave everything to Morena, but it wasn't enough. I reproach myself all the time. One more day for the fight," she stated firmly.
