After nearly twenty years dedicated to Ubisoft and the Assassin's Creed saga, Marc-Alexis Coté has decided to close his cycle at the company. The news, confirmed by specialized media and internal sources, comes amid a global reorganization that includes the creation of Vantage Studios, a new studio developed in partnership with Chinese technology giant Tencent.
Coté, considered one of the most influential figures behind the franchise's success, chose not to accept the leadership position offered to him within the new studio. With his departure, Ubisoft loses one of those responsible for defining the creative and technical direction of one of its most recognized series worldwide.
A new stage for Ubisoft and Tencent's role
The creation of Vantage Studios represents a strategic shift for Ubisoft, which seeks to decentralize its production and grant greater autonomy to its creative teams. The new studio, backed by an investment of approximately 1.25 billion dollars from Tencent, will be responsible for developing future Assassin's Creed titles, as well as other iconic franchises such as Rainbow Six Siege and Far Cry.

In internal emails, the company announced that Vantage Studios will be responsible for driving an evolution in the gaming experience, with a strong focus on community interaction and narrative innovation. However, Coté's refusal to join the project has raised questions about the direction the series will take in the coming years.
