Like Canada, the European Union declares a trade war on the United States.
The European Union announced a series of tariff measures against the United States in retaliation for the Trump administration's measures.
The European Union announced this Wednesday a series of countermeasures in response to the 25% tariff increase imposed by the Trump administration on all steel and aluminum imports.
These countermeasures will take effect on April 1 and will be valued at 26 billion euros (28 billion dollars), thus responding to the U.S. tariffs, which reach 28 billion dollars.
Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, stated that although the EU will respond with similar tariffs, it will remain open to negotiation, emphasizing that in a world full of economic and geopolitical uncertainties, it is not beneficial for either party to impose tariffs.

The European countermeasures will affect not only steel and aluminum but also textiles, leather, appliances, tools, plastics, wood, and agricultural products such as poultry, beef, seafood, nuts, eggs, sugar, and vegetables. The European Commission manages trade conflicts on behalf of the 27 EU member countries.
Despite the European Union's arguments, the integration process has numerous tariffs on U.S. goods prior to their imposition by Trump.
These measures come after Canada imposed a ridiculous extra cost on electricity exports to certain U.S. states. In recent days, the province of Ontario had announced an extra 25% tariff on energy sales to the states of Michigan, New York, and Minnesota.
In response, the Donald Trump administration applied a new 25% tariff on Canadian aluminum and steel, causing these to rise to a total of 50%.

The efficient measures applied by Trump led the province of Ontario, led by Doug Ford, to rescind the extra charges on electricity. In light of this decision, President Trump also decided to rescind the last-minute tariffs imposed on Canadian steel and aluminum.
This episode adds to the incomprehensible maneuvers being taken by the European Union both in the commercial and military spheres. Yesterday, Emmanuel Macron organized a military summit in Paris to increase his war efforts on Ukraine, in which he excluded the United States.
Within the military spectrum, there is great discontent with Europe from the Trump administration and the United States in general, due to the lack of willingness to increase the defense budget in contribution to NATO when the Republican had requested it.
However, in recent months, in the face of the new military escalation in Europe, largely caused by the continent's main states, military budgets have seen strong increases.
