An illegal Sudanese immigrant identified as Deng Chol Majek was found guilty of the brutal murder of Rhiannon Skye Whyte, a 27-year-old woman who worked at the Park Inn by Radisson hotel in Walsall, in the West Midlands region, in the United Kingdom.
The crime occurred on the night of October 20 last year, when Majek followed Whyte after she finished her work shift to the Bescot Stadium train station, where he attacked her using a screwdriver. The young woman was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver 19 times, sustaining a total of 23 wounds during the attack.
Security cameras recorded the moment when the illegal African immigrant watched the victim inside the hotel and then pursued her at close range through the streets, until he caught up with her at the railway station.

According to prosecutor Michelle Heeley (KC), Rhiannon Whyte was talking on the phone with a friend at the time of the attack. The conversation was abruptly interrupted after screams were heard, and the call was disconnected at 11:19 p.m. A few minutes later, Deng Chol Majek was seen fleeing the scene with the victim's phone in his hand.
According to British authorities, the train driver whom Whyte was supposed to meet found her body lying on the platform at 11:24 p.m. Although emergency services arrived immediately, the young woman died three days later in the hospital due to the severity of the injuries sustained.

Hotel security cameras later showed Majek dancing and listening to music in the parking lot, while in the background the lights of emergency vehicles responding to assist the victim of the brutal attack could be seen.
British police indicated that the conviction was based on DNA evidence, security footage, and witness testimony, which confirmed that the accused was the only person present on the platform during the attack. This evidence was key for the jury to find him guilty. The final sentence against Majek will be handed down in the coming weeks by the United Kingdom court.
