The Mexican influencer César Daniel Nolasco Gastélum, known on social media as "Cesarín" or "Compasexor", was murdered on Tuesday night while live streaming from the city of Culiacán, in the state of Sinaloa.
The young man, aged 25, had amassed over 500,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram, sharing content related to his daily life, travel, gastronomy, and humor. His death was partially recorded during a live broadcast that was abruptly interrupted after the attack.
According to Mexican media reports, Gastélum was live streaming with two friends near a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. The three were dressed as food delivery workers as part of a challenge for their social media.
The man was shot dead live
At that moment, a motorcycle with two people approached the location. According to information released by the authorities and local press, one of the occupants got off the vehicle and shot at the influencer.
The broadcast was cut off immediately after the attack and was later removed from the platform. However, fragments of the video began to circulate on various websites and social media.
Initially, police reports indicated that the victim was a food delivery worker. However, after analyzing the broadcast and taking statements from witnesses, investigators confirmed that it was César Gastélum.
The crime occurred in a busy shopping plaza near the headquarters of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Sinaloa, where a rapid operation was deployed with police, military personnel, and forensic experts. Authorities are working to determine the motive for the attack and identify those responsible.
