Extreme heat is once again the main factor in the AMBA at the beginning of February. The high temperatures, combined with humidity, are creating oppressive days with specific chances of instability.
According to the National Meteorological Service, the metropolitan area could be on the verge of a new heat wave if thermal values persist in the coming days.

How the week begins in AMBA
This Monday, Buenos Aires City and the Greater Buenos Aires area are facing an oppressive day. The high is around 34 °C, with a low near 23 °C.
Although the probability of rain is low, the heat index is intensified by humidity. The sky will remain partly cloudy, with no significant thermal relief.
Is a new heat wave starting?
The forecast values for the coming days are keeping specialists on alert. Highs will range between 33 °C and 36 °C, with lows that will not drop below 22 °C.

If these values persist for at least three consecutive days, the criteria could be met to declare a heat wave in AMBA.
Isolated storms: when they may appear
The extended forecast indicates a low probability of isolated showers between Tuesday and Friday. Widespread rainfall or significant accumulations are not expected.
These showers would be brief and localized, more associated with accumulated heat than with the arrival of an organized frontal system.

The atmospheric blocking pattern and the possible change
For most of the week, the atmospheric blocking pattern will continue to dominate the center-east of the country. This favors stable weather and the persistence of heat.
Toward Thursday or Friday, models are anticipating a weakening of that blocking pattern, with chances of a cold front that could bring more widespread rainfall in Buenos Aires Province.
Recommendations for heat conditions
In this scenario, authorities recommend constant hydration, avoiding sun exposure during peak hours, and paying special attention to children, older adults, and people with chronic illnesses.
