Israel's president expressed solidarity with Javier Milei amid media attacks.
Isaac Herzog condemned Carlos Pagni's article in La Nación, where he compared Milei to Adolf Hitler
The president of Israel, Isaac Herzog, joined the various voices expressing their strong rejection of an article published in the newspaper La Nación, signed by journalist Carlos Pagni. The reprehensible article had compared Argentine president Javier Milei to figures of the Nazi regime, which caused deep indignation both in the political sphere and in the international community.
Herzog strongly condemned the use of Nazi imagery by the Argentine journalist, calling the comparison “absurd and offensive.” On his social media, the Israeli president highlighted the seriousness of the historical distortion, emphasizing that “there is no possible comparison with the Nazis, whose crimes constitute the darkest stain in the history of humanity.”
Herzog's denunciation is part of a series of condemnatory reactions, which also include those of Argentine president Javier Milei and the statement issued by the Delegation of Argentine Jewish Associations (DAIA).

The Israeli head of state not only criticized the article for its offensive content but also reaffirmed his invitation to Milei to visit Israel, reaffirming the desire to strengthen the ties between both nations. Herzog highlighted the Argentine leader's constant support for Israel and the Jewish people, especially in difficult times. According to Herzog, Milei showed “courage and moral clarity” by supporting Israel in times of crisis.
The rejection of the La Nación article was not limited to President Herzog. The Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, Amichai Chikli, also expressed his condemnation, calling the comparison between Milei and Adolf Hitler “unjust and irresponsible.”
The reactions to Pagni's publication highlighted a growing concern about the serious situation of Argentine journalism, which mostly engages in operating and spreading fake news against the Government of Javier Milei.
While some excuse themselves behind freedom of expression, the use of such sensitive historical symbols can't be trivialized, as it contributes to distorting collective memory and endangers the teaching of the harshest lessons of history. Comparing President Javier Milei to Hitler is something that should be repudiated by the entire political spectrum.
In the face of these attacks and operations with fake news from the Argentine press, President Herzog's firm stance underscores an unwavering commitment to historical truth and mutual respect between nations.
