Jalil signs an agreement to boost the 'Los Diablillos' mine and attract investments
He did it together with the governor of Salta, Gustavo Sáenz. The initiative seeks to promote investments
The governors of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, and Salta, Gustavo Sáenz, signed a Facilitation and Promotion Agreement for the Development of the "Diablillos - Silver" Mining Project, aiming to provide legal security and predictability to investments in the region.
The initiative seeks to transform a historically conflictive area into a space of cooperation and productive development.
Legal security and sustainable development
The Country Manager of Abra Silver Resource Corp in Argentina, Eugenio Ponte, highlighted the importance of the agreement, as the company operates the "Diablillos - Silver" project, which is in the feasibility stage and whose construction could begin by mid-2026.
"We have achieved a milestone with this agreement, which provides us with security and continuity. Besides benefiting both provinces, it will also positively impact local communities," said Ponte.
From the Ministry of Mining of Catamarca, Marcelo Murúa emphasized that this cooperation framework will accelerate investments and ensure development with clear rules.
"We used to talk about a conflict zone; today, by political decision of both governors, we are advancing in a cooperation zone with predictability for the sector", stated Murúa.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Mining and Energy of Salta, Romina Sassarini, stressed the importance of sustainable development and environmental oversight.
"Mining investments are key to provincial growth, but they must be carried out with sustainable criteria. With this protocol, we have coordinated actions with Catamarca to ensure legal security and environmental protection," explained Sassarini.
The Minister of Production and Sustainable Development of Salta, Martín de los Ríos, also participated in the meeting.
Creation of an interprovincial committee
The agreement establishes the formation of an Interprovincial Management Committee, responsible for overseeing mining development in the region and ensuring compliance with technical and environmental standards.
Additionally, additional protocols will be implemented to establish an equitable scheme for the distribution of taxes and royalties, ensuring that both provinces benefit from the sector's growth.
With this agreement, mining integration in the NOA is consolidated, strengthening Salta and Catamarca as key destinations for mining investments under a framework of sustainability, predictability, and regional growth.
