At the Fundación Faro dinner, the President reaffirmed the Government's liberal course, defended fiscal balance, and stated that Argentina and the region are experiencing an awakening

In a year-end filled with political and ideological definitions, President Javier Milei delivered a highly impactful speech at the annual Faro Foundation dinner, where he combined a message of condemnation of Islamic terrorism, a defense of his Government's economic program, and an optimistic outlook on the political direction of Latin America.

The president expressed his solidarity with the Jewish community after the antisemitic attack that took place in Australia, perpetrated by two Muslims, and stated that it was a threat that went beyond a specific community. "This threat transcends the Jewish people because it is an affront to freedom itself," he said during the dinner, while sending his condolences to the victims and warning about the rise of antisemitism globally.

"First, my solidarity with the Jewish community in Argentina and around the world, in a global context in which antisemitism is manifesting itself in increasingly abhorrent ways," he emphasized.

In this context, Milei linked the attack to what he defined as the need to wage the "cultural battle." "Acts like these remind us of the importance of the cultural battle we are fighting. The woke virus often demands that we look the other way. What is wrong is wrong, and that's it," he stated, and warned about the advance of this ideological current in Europe and the West.

After addressing the international scenario, the President celebrated the victory of right-wing leader José Antonio Kast in Chile. "In happy news, I want to send my congratulations to José Antonio Kast and the Chilean people. It is a sign that Latin America has awakened," he said. In the same vein, he stated that "the continent is awakening and is roaring, shouting 'Long live freedom, damn it,'" and asserted that the region is beginning to leave behind "the calamity of 21st-century socialism."

Throughout his address, Milei insisted that "every inch gained from the left is a conquest for every human being who wants to live in freedom again," and criticized progressive sectors for having dominated the narrative for decades. "The left has managed to present its lies as appealing, without considering the consequences or whether those ideas were feasible," he said, while recalling that "the best thing about socialism is that it sounds nice, but it never works," and that this system "murdered 150 million human beings."

In a more confrontational tone, the president described those who oppose libertarian ideas as "professional vampires" and "perpetual slackers." "The difference between them and us is spiritual. They never give up, which is why we can't abandon the cultural battle," he stated.

The speech included an extensive economic section. Milei rejected the distinction between macroeconomics and microeconomics and argued that "the macro is the sum of the micro." "Except for fourth-rate economists stuck in the past, serious ones do intertemporal general equilibrium," he said ironically. He also replied to criticism about the alleged lack of sectoral policies: "Thanks to those who say this government doesn't deal with the micro, because that shows it is an honest government. Picking winners is pure lobbying and corruption."

In this regard, he defended liberalism as a framework for state action. "A liberal government is dedicated to leveling the playing field, respecting the right to life, liberty, and private property. After that, let them compete," he stated. He reiterated that public spending policies to stimulate consumption are examples of "popular ideas that do not have to be true."

The President highlighted the results of his administration: he recalled that the Government reduced the consolidated fiscal deficit from 15 points of GDP to 0, cut taxes by 2.5 points of GDP, closed the quasi-fiscal deficit in six months, and eliminated half of the ministries. "We have shown that the adjustment can be made and that it can be expansive," he said, and asserted that his administration lifted 12 million people out of poverty "by eliminating the poverty managers."

He also mentioned that the economic program withstood a "speculative attack" of 41 billion dollars on the dollarization of M2 and eight months of constant questioning. "Nevertheless, the program is standing and today Argentina is growing again," he emphasized.

During the closing, Milei had words of praise for the Minister of Economy Luis Caputo, whom he described as "the best Minister of Economy in history" and joked about giving him "the benefactor of the year award," while promising to continue reducing spending and taxes.

The event was held at the Yacht Club of Puerto Madero and was attended by 400 guests, including officials, agribusiness, energy, and finance entrepreneurs. The President arrived a few minutes before 9:00 p.m. and was accompanied by much of his cabinet. Before his speech, the head of the foundation, Agustín Laje, called for "waging the cultural battle" and stated that "the future is right-wing."
