He stated that the country overcame its worst period between March and October despite obstacles from the opposition

At a financial forum organized by El Cronista, President Javier Milei once again addressed his potential reelection and clearly set the bar for 2027: his continuity will depend on having solved the country's structural problems. He stated that if he doesn't achieve this, "it would be very good" if his contract is not renewed. In front of a packed audience, he emphasized that his role is to manage: "I was put here to solve problems."
The statements came days after Karina Milei, Secretary General of the Presidency, told libertarian leaders about the need to work toward a second term. In this context, Javier Milei reinforced his message of responsibility to the 47.5 million Argentinians he must report to, not to "three or four scoundrels from the red circle who made a living by impoverishing Argentina," as he pointed out.

During his presentation, the President defended the pillars of his economic program: fiscal balance, zero issuance, and monetary discipline. He recalled that his administration stabilized the Treasury in one month and reduced public spending by 30%, a contrast he used to differentiate himself from Mauricio Macri's government. "In 2017, there was no fiscal adjustment; it was only corrected with debt. Sixty billion dollars were borrowed," he noted. According to Milei, his administration did carry out a 'brutal GDP adjustment'.
He again explained how the exchange rate band system works, to which he attributes a key role in reducing volatility. "The bands are there so that the exchange rate is not just anything," he stated, and compared analysts who call for their elimination to someone who wants to "win a race against Ben Johnson when they've just learned to crawl."
Milei also insisted that the country has already left behind the 'kuka risk', a political component that, in his view, distorted expectations and fueled the increase in country risk even when macro essentials were beginning to stabilize. He recalled that the opposition voted for 'laws to break the Government's economic system' and that it was necessary to seek financing from the United States Treasury to restore the adjustment while reforms were underway. At the same time, he reiterated that Argentina went through "a brief season in hell" between March and October, a period of maximum macroeconomic tension that, in his view, allowed for the consolidation of lessons learned and the correction of critical imbalances. He also highlighted the electoral result of October 26 and stated that, if it had been a presidential election, the 41% to 24% would have meant a first-round victory. He stressed that Peronism lost its legislative majority and celebrated the implementation of the Single Ballot as the definitive end to fraud.
Milei concluded both presentations by reaffirming the direction of his administration: "I was hired to solve problems." The signal for 2027 was made clear: reelection will not be the consequence of his results.
