The Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, published a heartfelt message bidding farewell to Charlie Kirk, the renowned American conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, who was killed yesterday by a left-wing terrorist while participating in an event at Utah Valley University.
The post, shared on his social media, reflects not only the deep friendship that united them, but also Vance's admiration for Kirk's work and legacy in the political and social spheres.
Vance recalled how he met Kirk several years ago, around 2017, after one of his appearances on Tucker Carlson's show on Fox. “Afterward, a name I barely knew sent me a direct message on Twitter and told me I'd done an excellent job. It was Charlie Kirk, and that moment of kindness gave rise to a friendship that lasted until today,” he wrote. From that moment, he noted, Kirk displayed a combination of intellectual curiosity, generosity, and willingness to learn that would define his entire career.

The Vice President highlighted Kirk's ability to debate ideas and organize student movements. He recalled how Kirk was one of the first people to support him when Vance was considering running for the Senate in 2021, introducing him to key contacts, advising on strategy and fundraising, and even connecting him with Donald Trump Jr.. “He had no reason to do it, nor did he expect me to go anywhere. He did it because we were friends and because he was a good person,” Vance stated.
