Johnny Depp's visit to Argentina continues to deliver memorable moments. This Thursday, the Pirates of the Caribbean star was declared an illustrious visitor of the city of La Plata and received the key to the city in a ceremony led by Mayor Julio Alak, in recognition of his outstanding artistic career and his visit to the country to present his new film Modigliani, Three Days in Montparnasse.
The actor arrived at the Legislative Palace after 5:00 p.m., accompanied by the film's lead, Riccardo Scamarcio, amid a security operation and a crowd waiting for him near the building.
In the Golden Hall, Alak presented him with the recognition in a formal ceremony attended by local authorities and figures from the cultural sector.
"We are all very happy, excited, and deeply moved," said the mayor after presenting the distinction. He added: "Johnny Depp is an artist who has marked generations with his talent and his commitment to art."
After the tribute, Depp and Alak went out onto the balcony overlooking Plaza Moreno, where hundreds of fans welcomed him with applause, cheers, and signs. Moved by the passion of the Argentine audience, the actor improvised a brief speech in English.
