After almost a month of inactivity since the Hungarian Grand Prix, Formula 1 is preparing to resume action and one of the biggest questions will revolve around Alpine's performance. The French team is going through a difficult season and needs to react in order to get out of the bottom of the Constructors' Championship standings.
In this context, former driver Juan Pablo Montoya commented on the current situation of Franco Colapinto, who replaced Jack Doohan a few months ago and earned a spot in the starting line-up. Although the Buenos Aires native still hasn't scored any points, his progress has been remarkable and he has managed to reduce the gap with his teammate Pierre Gasly. His short-term continuity doesn't seem to be at risk, but the debate about his future in 2026 remains open.
"Will Franco stay at Alpine in 2026? That's a good question," Montoya said on the AS podcast. "I've always said that Paul Aron deserved a chance and in the Hungary test he was the fastest. That was a warning for Alpine, as if to say: "Other options need to be considered." That could complicate things for Franco," he warned.
