Boca's president will keep Chelo Delgado and has added administrative staff and close collaborators
At the beginning of August, Juan Román Riquelme decided to end the cycle of Mauricio Serna and Raúl Cascini in the Football Council of Boca. Both directors submitted their resignations, which were accepted by the president, amid strong criticism from fans due to the poor performance of Miguel Ángel Russo's team.
With the good results that followed, the issue of their replacement was put on hold. Even after the draw against Rosario Central at the Gigante de Arroyito, the search for a new manager or new members for the Council is not among the immediate priorities of the board.
Although names such as José Pékerman and Carlos Navarro Montoya have emerged, the idea is that, as long as the results continue, football decisions will continue to be made by Riquelme and Marcelo "Chelo" Delgado.
Delgado y Riquelme tomarán las decisiones deportivas
Currently, the Football Council is headed by Delgado, with Riquelme's endorsement, and accompanied by administrative employees such as Rodolfo Pagani, Gastón Ávila, and Leonardo Sauto, who took on their roles after the departure of long-standing members such as Jorge Clemente and Gonzalo Núñez, who were reassigned to Casa Amarilla.
In addition, Claudio Freire and Tomás de Abelleyra, previously linked to the media field and with a close relationship with the president, have taken on new responsibilities in the football area, in addition to those they already performed in the press department.
The situations of Pékerman and Navarro Montoya
In the event of a formal offer, José Néstor Pékerman has already stated that he would view the possibility of becoming Boca's manager favorably, accompanied by Delgado as his right-hand man. The former Argentina and Colombia national team coach values the idea of returning to football in a management role.
Meanwhile, Carlos Navarro Montoya is also open to the proposal. The club's former legendary goalkeeper has praised Riquelme's management on several occasions and doesn't rule out joining the structure to contribute in a new role.
