The forward insisted that he would be a good addition to the team, and Colchonero has him as one of the main players to sign

Atlético de Madrid seeks to make a qualitative leap that allows it to compete on equal terms with the big clubs in various tournaments. In this context, the club has its sights set on the Argentine defender Cristian Cuti Romero, about whom Julián Álvarez said that "he would help a lot".

The Tottenham defender is one of Cholo Simeone's priorities, who considers the 27-year-old footballer, world champion and two-time champion of America, as the main target for the next transfer market.

"I hope it happens. He's a great player. One of the best center-backs in the world, for me. National team teammate and a great person. That great reinforcement would help us a lot," said Julián Álvarez in an interview with the Spanish media AS.

However, his incorporation wouldn't be easy or cheap for Atlético, which is still willing to make a considerable investment. Additionally, Romero himself would be willing to facilitate the move. According to Spanish media, he would have already given the green light and started to move to finalize the operation.

After his time at Manchester City, the forward chose to leave the English club last summer. The influence of teammates like Rodrigo de Paul, Giuliano Simeone, and even Antoine Griezmann was key for the Spider to make the decision.

Referring to his first experience at the colchonero club, the forward commented that it was "a bit what I imagined". "It's like a family. You feel it more similar to what Argentina is compared to the Premier," he highlighted.

"Maybe also because of the language or that there are many Argentine teammates, the coach too, and so I felt a bit more similar to Argentina," he added. "It's like a family, very united.  This passion, courage, and heart with which Atleti is identified is lived a bit more from the inside," he concluded.
