Ángel Correa is leaving Atlético Madrid and River wants him for the Club World Cup.
The Núñez team has started talks with the forward's camp, who already has Tigres de México's offer on the table
With the Club World Cup just around the corner, teams are already starting to move their pieces with the intention of assembling the best possible squad. In that scenario, River would be preparing a coup, with the aim of adding a player of international stature.
The mini transfer market enabled by FIFA would allow Marcelo Gallardo to assemble a competitive and high-level squad, and his main objective would be a forward with experience and outstanding technical skills. Thus, to a base that includes names like Germán Pezzella, Gonzalo Montiel, Marcos Acuña, and Franco Armani, El Muñeco would seek to add one more figure: Ángel Correa.

The striker, who emerged from San Lorenzo, had already been on the club's radar in previous transfer markets, although without success. This time, however, the context is different, as the 30-year-old from Rosario would be open to leaving the Colchonero, which reactivated Gallardo's interest, who reportedly acted quickly to position River in the negotiation.
According to Relevo, in recent hours the Núñez club would have contacted Correa's entourage to express their intention to add him for the second half of the year, with the Club World Cup as the main goal.
However, the operation would not be simple. For some time, Correa has been in advanced talks with Tigres of Mexico, and according to the Spanish media, there would already be an agreement between the player and the Aztec institution, although the clubs still need to reach an understanding.

In this context, River would try to get into the dispute with the hope of turning the course of history in their favor, and ensuring that the forward ends up landing in Núñez.
Correa's contract with Atlético de Madrid and its value
Beyond the initial contacts, if Ángel Correa gives the green light, River will have to sit down to negotiate with Atlético de Madrid. The player has a contract in force until June 2026 and remains a valuable piece for Diego Simeone.
Nonetheless, a point in favor for the Argentine club could be the Madrid team's willingness to facilitate Correa's departure if he requests it, as a gesture of recognition for his extensive career at the club, where he has already surpassed 400 matches. Although the economic effort that his arrival would represent is significant, the amounts of the operation would not be an insurmountable obstacle.

As for his value, a few months ago it was 20 million euros, however, due to his irregular present, Atlético would be willing to accept 13 to 14 million dollars for his transfer.
